If you are using JRiver, Audirvana, or any other similar third party music player, then you do not need BitPerfect.
BitPerfect is meant to be used in conjunction with iTunes. It is made by a third-party developer (although it is available for purchase from the Mac App Store). Integrates your DSD files into iTunes and lets you play them bac as DSD on a compatible DAC or as Alac on a non compatible device like Mac outputs or Airplay speaker. Never tried jRiver (Windows only I guess?) but BP's DSD solution is fantastic. Filter by these if you want a narrower list of alternatives or looking for a specific functionality of Audirvana. Audirvana alternatives are mainly Audio Players but may also be Media Players or Internet Radio Services. What I need is hassle free 100% iTunes integration and automatic sample rate put into my DAC without restarting iTunes all the time. Other interesting Mac alternatives to Audirvana are Clementine, DeaDBeeF, Vox Music Player and JRiver Media Center. Pure Music I tried ages ago but it has a really awkward interface. I noticed there is a new Origin version of Audirvana that does not include streaming, something I might like. Sold my three licenses.ĭitched Audirvana because recently they went in the other direction by using a dedicated player instead of iTunes integration.
Sure, there's a lot of bellls and whistles I don't need. I've had Amarra as well, but it's a lot of money for getting the same SQ.
